El Deah - The God Who Knows

1 Samuel 2:3 “ Talk no more so very proudly; let no arrogance come from your mouth, for the LORD is the God of knowledge (El De’ah) ; and by Him actions are weighed. ” As we’ve already seen when we learned about God’s omnisciece , God knows it all. It is impossible for Him to learn anything, because He already knows! But this name - El De’ah - takes it a step further than what God knows . When we speak of the God of Knowledge, we’re speaking of the treasures of knowledge and understanding that can be found in Him. What Kind Of Knowledge Are We Talking About? The Hebrew word de’ah means more than simply knowledge about a thing. It’s not the kind of knowledge that comes from reading a book or listening to a message. This term actually carries the meaning of a first-hand knowledge of something . It’s root word ( de’a ) means “to form an opinion based on first-hand knowledge of a thing.” So the name El De’ah is actually referring to God’s intimate understanding of things tha...

El Emmett - The God of Truth

Psalm 31:5 “ Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O LORD, God of truth (El Emmett) . God is a God of Truth Exodus 34:6 And the LORD passed before him and proclaimed, “The LORD, the Lord GOD, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth…” God loves truth. Everything He says and everything He does comes out of His truth. Psalm 33:4 tells us that “all of His work is done in truth .” According to Deuteronomy 32:4, God will always take the side of truth. “He is the Rock, His work is perfect; for all His ways are justice, a God of truth and without injustice; righteous and upright is He. ” God isn’t the business of concealing things - He takes delight when the truth is known. In fact, He has already revealed the truth to us in its entirety ! His Word (the Bible) is Truth There is only one truth, and it’s contained in the pages of God’s Word . There are two part to this idea of the Scriptures being truth. First, we believe...

El Hanne'eman - Faithful To The End

Deuteronomy 7:9 “ Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the Faithful God (El Hanne’eman) who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments ” God is faithful! This ties to the eternity and unchangeableness that we saw with the name El Olam . However, this particular name - “the Faithful God” - has more to do with our response to His unchanging nature. Because He will never be different, we can put our faith in Him. He is faithful! Faithful When No One Else Is Psalm 12:1 Help, Lord, for the godly man ceases! For the faithful disappear from among the sons of men. This is a sentiment that runs through the Scripture, that people simply aren’t faithful. They’re not faithful to each other. They’re not faithful to their word. They’re not faithful to do what’s right. They’re not faithful to the One who made them. They simply cannot be trusted. Sure, they’re quick to tell you all the good that they would do. They’...
