10 - Wait! Start Here First!
"Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation:
of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,
of the doctrine of baptisms,
of laying on of hands,
of resurrection of the dead,
and of eternal judgment.
And this we will do if God permits."
Christian, you may think that you're ready to dig into the deep truths of the kingdom of God...but are you really? The truth is, God will decide when it's time for you to move past these five foundational doctrines...not you. Until He permits us, we need to stay right here and lay the foundation for us to build on.
Why is it so critical to have these stones in place? Because in verses 4-7, the writer of Hebrews goes on to describe the fall of a person that goes on to the deeper things of God without being founded in these doctrines first. When a person tries to build up their life with no foundation, it is actually impossible to bring them back when they collapse!
So before you move on and build up your Christian life...start here. Walk through this with me: Line by line, point by point, and truth by truth. Dig down and settle these five doctrines first. Then watch how your life builds up from there!
