How To Read The Bible

A parachute. A Bible. A bottle of medicine. An umbrella. What do these things have in common? None of them will do you any good unless you open them! In my last post, I started to explain what our responsibility is toward the Bible. Hopefully, by this point, you already have a grasp on what it is and why it’s unlike any other book on earth. We’ve seen that it deserves a level of honor and respect that many “Christians” are not giving it today. This is a book that should always take first place in our lives - one that should govern our actions, our words, and even our very thoughts! A lot of believers would agree with me - at least in theory - when I say that we should base our lives on the pages of Scripture. But we constantly seem to fall short of putting that idea into practice. After all, how can you expect to have a life built on the Word if you never read it? Do You Realize What You're Holding?

John 1:1 “ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God .” Stop Letting Other Things Come First First of all, let me start with this: If you’re reading this before you’ve spent time in God’s Word, stop it right now. Don’t put it off; don’t keep reading on.  First go and get your nose in the Bible for a while, then you can come back and finish this, ok? We’ve spent the last few weeks talking about how the Bible has been consistently proven true by science, by history, and by its fulfilled prophecy. We’ve seen that every argument thrown at the Bible has fallen flat on its face. We now know that the Book we've chosen to believe in has stood firm throughout the tests and attacks of time. Today, I want to switch gears a little bit and talk to you about what our response should be to the Bible.
