Jesus, The Messiah

John 20:30-31 " And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written  that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ,  the Son of God, and that believing  you may have life in His name ." Do you believe that Jesus is the Christ? Many believers don't understand what that term - " Christ " - means. But in this passage, we can see that it's critical, not only to  understand  what the "Christ" is, but also to  believe that Jesus is the Christ.  The apostle John goes so far as to say that  faith in this truth  is what will give us life! In fact, John repeats this same point in his first letter to the church. Look at what 1 John 5:1 tells us, " Whoever believes that  Jesus is the Christ  is born of God..."  John literally tells us that we're not even  born again  unless we believe that Jesus is the Christ! Is this something that should be under...

Don't Draw Back From Faith!

1 Timothy 6:12 " Fight the good fight of faith ..."  Faith is how we fight.  Anyone who has ever stood in faith - believing a promise they cannot see - can testify to this. Faith is definitely not a passive thing. It's so much easier to believe what you can see than it is to believe what you read in the Word. But don't give up!   Don't quit on your faith...no matter how long it takes. Fight this good fight! Faith is the only thing that can resist the devil. Look at what 1 Peter 5:8-9 tells us to do, " Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith... " If faith in God's Word is the way we resist the devil's attacks....we shouldn't think that it'll always come easy. But, I'm telling you...after you've done everything you know to do, keep standing in faith! We must be " steadfast in the faith ." Don't ever lose...

Stop Begging God!

So far, we've covered how to: Receive by faith Speak by faith Act by faith But, there's more! If we're to "live by faith", then  everything  in our lives must come through faith. This includes our prayers. Do you believe that God answers our prayers? Have you ever prayed and  not  received the answer? If so, you're not alone. Millions of Christians around the world have pleaded with God for something, and have been disappointed by not getting answer. How do we explain this? Does God want to answer us, or are there times when He decides not to pay attention to what we pray? In an attempt to explain why good Christians pray so often and nothing happens, the church has come up with a completely  unbiblical  doctrine: " Sometimes God says 'yes', sometimes He says 'no', and sometimes He'll tell you to wait."  Someone please, show me where this is in the Bible! Because when I look, this is what I see: Proverbs 15:8 " The ...

Faith and Works

In this new life we have in Christ; is living by faith enough, or do we ever need to do something? There are two drastically different, but equally wrong answers to this question. One says, "All you need to do is sit there and have faith." The other says, "Forget trusting in God, everything you'll ever get will come from your own effort." Neither of these is right. Why? Because you'll never find  faith  without  work - and you'll never be effective in your  work  without faith . You Can't Have One Without The Other When we were saved, it was by grace through faith - correct? We weren't saved by works, by our own effort, or by  trying  to get saved. No, it was an incredible gift of God's grace that you received through faith. This is crucial to understand, because now that you're in this new life, you must still live by faith. Habakkuk 2:2 says this very clearly, " But the just shall live by his faith. " This passage...

Faith Speaks (Releasing the Force of Faith)

2 Corinthians 4:13 And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I believed and therefore I spoke," we also believe and therefore speak... As we've already seen, you will always speak what you believe. That's exactly what this verse here claims...we believe and therefore  we speak. If you've filled your heart with God's word, and believe what it says, it will inevitably  come up out of your mouth If you've filled your heart with worldly ideas, news, and entertainment, it will inevitably come up out of your mouth. Unfortunately, it takes absolutely no effort at all to take the world in. It's all around us - always infiltrating our ears, our minds, and our hearts. If you don't intentionally  consume the Word of God, you will automatically  fill yourself with the garbage of the world. This is especially important because whatever is in your heart will come out your mouth...and whatever comes from your heart and ou...
